Silky Pillow Cases - add to the theme of any room! |
Way, way back in the 1960’s & 70’s if anyone in a working class street got hold of silk sheets or silk pillow cases, they were the talk of the neighborhood. But pre 1980 is not the same as post 2000 where we all have so much disposable income compared to yesteryear, that silk is just one more commonplace item found in many a home. We can easily see this with the increase in demand for decorative silk pillow cases which adorn so many contemporary homes these days.
Shopping for Silk Pillow Cases can be a bit tricky if you're not sure what you're doing. Watch out specifically for those bargains in discount stores. Many advertise items as being genuine silk, when in fact they’re a silk and cotton mix known simply as cotton silk. Real silk products are no longer just the luxury of the well to do and many of us can and do now adorn our home and suites with beautifully embroidered real silk pillow cases and cushions.

Hand painted silk pillows also improve the overall ambiance to any space and this is just what many of us are looking for when we return home from a hard day in the workplace. Those folks with a little time on their hands have even taken up hand painting their own silk pillows which add a more personal touch to home décor.
Silk Pillows Adorn Sofas
The main use of the silk pillow is to adorn sofas. Many of these pillows are designed with lush and soothing hues in fantastic designs. So beautiful are they, that some say they are too good to rest upon, and so their purpose is simply restricted for room décor. Works of art indeed, at times so intricate that one could look into them as a central concentration area for relaxation or meditation in a quiet room.
The Age of Silk is upon us all!
It’s true that silk was once the fabric enjoyed only by those who could afford the luxury, especially when it came down to silk bedding items such as sheets and pillow cases, but that was then and this is now. Silk is accessible to most of us now that the wealth in the west has reached more of us. That’s right folks, silk sheets, silk duvet covers, silk pillow cases and silk covered comforters are now within reach of us all.
