Pet Beds used to be little more than an old worn out mangy squishy cushion, which by the way, was loved by the mutts who slept on them. But the pet owners of today think their animals deserve better, much better! Purpose made pet beds, and I mean beds, not cushions, are being sold like hot cakes as the worlds pampered pooches wake up in 4 posters complete with mattress and blankets. There’s one thing for sure, and that is a pet knows when it’s loved and when it’s not. By making our domestic animals as comfortable and as cozy as possible let’s them know they are cherished, and this is particularly true with dogs. I remember my grandmother always used to say; “Take care of your dogs dear. After all they are a part of your family”.
In this whacky article we’re going to be taking a bizarre look at real ‘Dog Beds’ if you can believe that! Pampered pet pooches are perhaps the most awkward to buy for. Most cat beds come in one-size-fits-all, but this is definitely not the case with canines. Our spoilt pooches come in all sizes, shapes and weights, so it’s little wonder that we have to think carefully before buying beds for Buster!

The good news is that there are plenty of dog beds available. From small dog beds for tiny Chiwawas right up to the large dog beds for giants such as the Great Dane, the pet industry has catered for them all. But size is not the only factor to consider when looking for a dog bed. You also need to be mindful of your dog’s breed, its character, and living style. For example, if your hound is boisterous and always chewing and tearing at things, then you will need to purchase something that will withstand his energetic behavior. If he’s a docile, lazy, floppy kind of a character, then you can pretty much buy anything on offer providing he’s got room to move.
Pet Beds and Room Décor
You might see something in the store that looks just fantastic, but when you get it home, its presence is so dominant that it becomes the unwelcome focal point in the room. Therefore, you need to be aware of your home décor when out shopping for animal beds. Perhaps you prefer the dog’s bed to blend in with the room décor, or you might want it to match with the suite exactly. Some people simply opt for a designer pet bed where they get the covers and fabrics made to harmonize with other home furnishings.

Some dog owners go over the top and treat their animals like royalty. Although these extreme behaviors seem absurd to some, it does nothing to hurt the animal (in most cases), and gives a lot of pleasure to the pet lover. It’s often been joked in western societies that people treat their cars better than they do their own bodies, but now we’re seeing folks become so obsessed with their pets that they are spending more money and giving more time to the animals than they do their own kids for crying out loud! I mean, c’mon! A thousand dollars for a pet bed and only a couple of hundred for a crib! What’s a next, Ray-Ban sunglass for goldfish!
