Types of Feather Mattress: Just as all sheets are not equal the same can be said for feather beds. There are different types offering different surfaces and levels of comfort. So what are they? The main types of feather mattress are:
The baffle box feather bed is; a combination of rectangular shaped boxes woven into the feather bed and stuffed with feathers. First the baffle box sheet is constructed and the feathers are then added to each box via a nozzle. Baffle channel feather bed is: individual long vertical channels (strips), that lock in the feathers. The baffle channels run down the entire length of the feather bed . So what's the benefit? The advantages of the baffle channel is that they provide additional adjustability and comfort just where it's needed.
The Gusset Baffle Box: This is not dissimilar in design to the baffle box above, with the main difference being that of an additional piece of fabric (known as the gusset), which is introduced into a seam or an edge so as to give an overall fluffier and fuller construction than the standard baffle box.
The Gusset Baffle Channel: The only difference between the baffle channel and the gusset baffle channel is the gusset. So what is this gusset? Simply put it is an additional piece of fabric which is inserted into the edge (or seam). What this does is provide a fuller and fluffier construction in the end product.
The Horizontal Lumbar: this style of feather mattress is constructed for therapeutic reasons because its focus is the body's pressure points. The Horizontal lumbar provides additional support along the spine thus giving added comfort to the sleeper.
Down on Top: What this two-layered construction does is combine the support of the gusset featherbed (see above), underneath with the extraordinary comfort and sumptuousness of down on the top.
