Nothing Compares to Feather & Goose Down Bedding. Nothing!
Most of us spend a third of our life in the land of nod if we're lucky! That's a long time in one spot which is why it's crucial you and your body get the most out of it. This means equipping yourself with the best that you can afford in terms of beds and bedding. Your body will get its greatest respite and chance to rejuvenate if it is comfortable and snug.
You may well think that you are cozy at night time, but swap your synthetic pillows and covers with king down comforters (or queen down comforters), or any type of goose down bedding to include covers and pillows, and you will hit a new level of luxury and coziness that you never dreamed possible – guaranteed!
Pure White Down Comforter Sets. Not Cheap, but Value for Money!
So bedding is not cheap, but buying cheap is also false economy. If you bought a $10 pair of shoes today, the chances of you having to replace them just months later is high. Additionally, those 10 dollar shoes will not have the style, comfort or support (luxury) of a more expensive pair that would most likely look good and feel just great for years to come. Buying quality down comforters is no different. Luxury king down comforters, queen down comforters, or any goose down bedding items, be they covers, pillows or mattress toppers, might cost more initially, but what you get in return with regards to feel, looks, and longevity, is more than worth the initial outlay.
Perhaps you have traditional bedspreads. Comforters (AKA Quilt to the Brits), have replaced blankets and bedspreads in most modern homes. Goose down bedding is perhaps a luxury item afforded by a minority, especially in homes with big families.
Still, if you can afford the best of the best, then goose down will take some beating. Feathers went out, and now they're back in again! The experiment to find cheaper synthetic options is over. Feathers along with feather and down mix queen and king down comforters give the best sleeping experience period.
Let's not forget the kids though. What better love can a parent show a child by giving them that snug, warm, and comfortable bedtime experience as they grow.
kids & Teen Comforters Show you Care
Okay so the parents go out and equip their bed with quality feather down comforter and enjoy a blissful night's kip thanks to their choice in bedding. But what about the kids? Don't they also deserver and need a little TLC in from their bedding? Teen comforters are readily available in 2012 and what's more, trendy teen comforters come in a variety of themes and decorating styles to suit the young tastes. Quality teen bedding is as colorful, funky and hip as their cheaper alternatives.
What you should know when Shopping for Goose Down Bedding
There are a few simple things that you need to be aware of when shopping for feathers and down bedding items. Firstly, a mix of duck down and feathers is less expensive and therefore not quite such good quality as a mix of Goose down and feathers. The king of down however is that from the Eider duck. This down is hand-pick from unused nests. There are often sales on for down, feathers, and feather & down mixed betting products. So if you're not in any immediate rush, then it might be a good idea to wait for your preferred items to be reduced if cost is an consideration.
If there's one good thing about bedding items that is the styles and designs are constantly changing which gives us never ending choices. This could also be a bit of a problem though, because if you have a mishap and ruin a quilt cover, pillow case, or matching sheet just 6 months down after purchase, then you might find that you are unable to replace it due to the collection being replaced by the new line. So the bottom line is 'Be Careful' especially with costly goose down bedding items.
Most of us don't use feathers or down in our bedding, just as most of us don't have silk or satin sheets. It's not that we don't want these things, it's just that we're attracted to the manmade options for their cheapness. But like we've mentioned earlier, buying cheap beds and bedding products can often be a very false economy. Let's not forget also that some folks have allergies to feather bedspreads comforters and down products, and for them the synthetic "clean" allergen free, down alternatives are a must have.
Even though sleep is an essential part of living, there are those folks who consider it a total waste of time, and if there was some way they could stay awake 24/7 then they probably would. Overly tired folks do not feel or function right, and it's a fact that those of us who get a good night's quality sleep can achieve more in a couple of hours than those heavy-eyed workaholics in society can acomplish in 8. Any goose down bedding items or quality down comforters, feather mattresses and the like could literally transform your sleeping experience from one of okay, to sheer undiluted bliss.
Bed Bedding says: It's kind of funny but at the same time it's not. What are we referring to? People's general lack of knowledge on how to get the best sleep experience possible by the carful choices they make in beds, bedding, and the creation of that bedroom ambience. Did you know that most people are more knowledgeable about the fabrics, seats and comfort of their cars that sit outside than they do about beds and bedding, the latter of which they spend way more time in than the family vehicle? Just think about that for a second. Young couples are usually more occupied with choosing a seat cover set to protect the motor's interior than they are about treating themselves to feather and down comforter sets for the master bedroom.
For those who don't know, quality bedding is made from 100% long staple cotton (that's any cotton with fibers from 1 1/8" to 2 1/2" long). Regarding comforters, pillows, and mattress toppers etc, those which are stuffed with feathers, down, or a feather and down mix provide us with the ultimate in not only comfort, but longevity too.
How was your night? Recent studies have shown just how important a good night's sleep is to our general health and wellbeing. For those folks who find themselves restless, irritable, and discontented every working day of their lives can often trace their state back to poor sleep. Many people think that going to bed at 23:00 and getting up at 07:00 means they've had a good 8 hours kip. Sure, they've been in bed for 8 hours, but if that quality of sleep is less than it could be, then they aren't really getting the 8 hours they think they are. Beds, bedding (including comforters and bed pillows), could make all the difference in the world to enhancing that sleep experience. Try not to skimp in this area, it really isn't worth it.
Did you know this? Did you know that regularly fluffing your pillows and airing your bedding outdoors from time to time, including comforters and sheets, clears those items of a lot more microscopic particles (mostly dead skin), than you might realise. Dust free bedding helps you breathe easier at night and can also help lesson acne outbreaks for those who suffer from spots and pimples.
Q. What is plume?
The plume feathers are more developed than the fluffy down and less structured than the contour feather. Typically, this in-between feather is used in combination with pure down feather to add affordable luxury insulation in down bedding and various garments.
Q. What is the Fill Weight of a Down Comforter?
The 'fill weight' of a down comforter refers to the actual weight of the down inside a comforter. This fill weight is measured in ounces. In short, the more down there is the warmer the comforter will be. Obviously there are different sizes of comforters and different styles too, such as the Bavarian and Baffled Box designs. From the smallest and thinnest to the largest and thickest, the fill weights will generally range from 16 oz to 57 oz. If in doubt as to what fill weight and fill power is best for the beds in your home, in your country and climate, then simply request the advice of the sales person at your local bedding store.
Q. Why Goose Down?
Apart from offering the ultimate in cosiness, quality Goose down bedding will last an entire lifetime when looked after properly; especially down comforters that have a High Fill Power or 800+. Not only do you have comfort and longevity with Goose down bedding, but a high fill power will also help to keep the body at its optimum resting temperature. None of the above can be said for cheap synthetic fillings.
Q. What is the Filling Power, 500+, 600+, 700+, 800+?
Without wanting to complicate matters too much, the main thing you need to know about the filling power in bedding is that it determines the quality of down filled products. Simply put, the higher the fill power number, the bigger and tougher the down clusters will be. Fill power is measured in cubic inches per ounce. Also important to note is that the higher the fill power, the longer the product will last, and when compared to the real cheapo products out there, this longevity could exceed more than 200% with a fill power of say 800.
Q. What doess the Term 'Truly Hypoallergenic' mean?
So you've come across the term "truly hypoallergenic" goose down and it's confused the socks off you right? Don't worry because as a consumer all you need to know is that is one that truly hypoallergenic means that the products are 'really' allergy free, i.e. 100% clear of all dust, dirt and mites prior to leaving the factory.
Q. How is the Goose Down Truly Hypoallergenic Product Achieved?
Through a Sterilization process is the short answer. In a bit more detail, the product is extensively washed, then rinsed. The process is rinsed and repeated as many times is necessary in order to make the down 100% sterile. After this washing and rinsing comes a specialised drying process. This drying process has the down heated to over 275 degrees Fahrenheit minimum. Remember, if a product doesn’t carry the label, then it's not 100% 'truly hypoallergenic'
